So it's not just me...

First off, this is my first post here - but I've been reading for over a year. The advise presented on these forums guided me through a master bath remodel that I finished last July. Now I'm trying to rebuild a shower in another bathroom.

After reading about Kerdi and Tile-Experts specifically, I placed my order for a complete kit on March 30th. Last week (MAY 7th !!!) I received most of the order, but am still waiting on the the tray. It's a bit distressing to read the Winter placed an order two weeks after me and received her tray at that time - yet here I sit still waiting. It seems Schluter is now shipping defective trays and Tile-Experts got stuck with them.

My local "dealers" don't stock much of anything (although I did get some Ditraset), so I figured it would be much easier to order the kit online. Schluter have really put a lot of people in a bind - not to mention delayed the heck out of my shower build. Sorry to say, but it's left a really bad impression on me.

Sorry, but I had to vent. However, I think it's important that other members be aware of this situation. If I had known in advance, I would have probably (reluctantly) used a local dealer - at least I could get in contact with them if there were any problems.

Jon

This is second hand info, but it came from David at Tile-Experts. When my order finally arrived, sans tray, I emailed to find out what happened. David replied and said the batch of defective trays was the reason (several customers got them and were returning them to TE). This brings up another complaint - before TE received the trays I was assured by Chris (4/29) that I would receive one from that shipment. I was lucky, I guess

Angry Tile-experts.com = fraud

I placed an order with this company for some kerdi product 8 weeks ago. They charged my credit card, never once have I received notification from them when I will receive the products I ordered. They sent me a package with 1 item... still waiting on the other 15. I've talked to them twice on the phone. Both times they said they are shipping the item later that day. Now they are unreachable by phone. Luckily I paid with american express and they are issuing a charge back. Avoid this company! If you want schutler products, use a suggested retailer from their site (there is one 30 min from me and I had the product the same day I called in the order). I wish I had done this in the 1st place instead of listening to the "expert advice" from this site.

Welcome, Paul.

Can't say what the problem might be there. I just called Tile Experts at the number listed on their website and had no trouble at all getting hold of David Taylor there.

I couldn't give him anything more than a first name so he wasn't able to research your order, but he said he had no phone messages from anyone named Paul nor did he know of any unfulfilled orders as old as yours would be.

Perhaps with more information we could help. Perhaps not.

Your claim of fraud sounds a bit extreme to me, though.

What does "this site" have to do with your order? Did someone specifically tell you to order from Tile Experts? Do your own research before you whip out a credit card. Clearly you were able to find "this thread" on "this site". You could have read it first

On a thread over a month stale, too...

I can say that I haven't talked to a Paul recently and certainly not one who has placed an order for 16 items. The last order we had which contained 16 or more items was back in late 2009 for a government job. The last Paul (Paul S. in Kansas) someone here communicated with is very informed about his order and he should have it by early next week.

Granted, there have been some major delays in getting product shipped out to customers over the past few months. I think we're now past that point and should be back to the two-day shipping window we normally have.

"Paul" - if you'd like to send me an email, please do. I'll look into it for you.

I just spoke with the Paul in question. The order was actually placed under his wife's name, so I wasn't able to relate the two until a few minutes ago.

I've given him some assurances and he'll be content when he sees I've followed through on them.

Well exactly what advice did you read on this site that led you to tile-experts? This is a very busy forum and if you were browsing the threads you could easily have found advice that is several years old.

The advice given on this forum is top notch. Although we like that folks browse the forums and find what they need without ever making a post, or even registering, it is incumbent on YOU to do enough research to make an informed decision.

Quite frankly, your charge of fraud is way over the top. I'm sure you are frustrated but charging in with your first post screaming of fraud and how you were given bad advice is silly.

Now had you ASKED any questions on this forum you would have been given up to date relevant advice tailored to your specific project. You didn't do that so coming in here and whining about the "expert advice" you received makes you look rather foolish.

I hope your project goes well and we are always happy to help if you have any questions. Just start a thread and ask away.

My experience;

Placed my order on the evening of Monday 06/14, didn't hear anything so I called about the order around 3am on the 21st just to make sure there weren't any problems and got a message about a delay in shipping. Later Monday morning got an email with a tracking number and according to UPS is out for delivery right now.

Liar

After posting yesterday, I promtly got a call from tile-experts. Avoid these people, again David Taylor gave me the run around and a sob story of how he cannot get product. A good rule of business: don't sell a customer a product, promptly charge their credit card, and fabricate lies about "shipping" the product to them. On 3 differnt occasions this man has said he shipped the product to me. Which was a lie? The 1st time? The 2nd time? Are you telling the truth this last time? Doubtful.

Schutler does not allow internet sales. I suspect it is because of tile-experts. They cut him off and now, he obtains product from authorized retailers and resells it. I suspect Schutler's site lists who they recommend buying it from because of this.

P.S. The order was placed 5/21/2010, 6 weeks ago (two weeks after an identical order was placed that apparently "never went through." The order was for 5 skus (most bundles) with well over 15 items. Was $857.89 worth your business?

I posted to this thread specifically because it has a lot of hits and it gets noticed, and I plan to do the same to any other I can find to warn people of this shoddy business.

Paul,

The assurances I mentioned in my last post have been taken care of; your package is on its way and you've been given all the information you need to verify it is with UPS.

You're not accurate in your portrayal of the shipping issue. Also, we've never been allowed to buy directly from Schluter, so they haven't "cut us off".

Also, don't speculate on why Schluter doesn't want internet companies in the business... they're not telling anyone and you're certainly not in the loop, either. I know it has nothing to do with your 'unique' image of our company and our practice of trying to supply product for our customers.

The second order you talk about was a similar order to the first one your wife placed. In fact, she placed both orders and your name doesn't appear anywhere. You were told on Monday when you asked about her order that the second one was not being processsed and you were OK with that.

Therefore, you were not charged the $857.89 you claim you were; the first order was even given a shipping discount from the website's estimate, since we could ship the items in fewer boxes. Which other company will do that for you? I don't know of one that won't pocket the extra money.

I think a retraction of some of your statements is in order.
