Vanessa, simply make a few piles of mortar somewhat evenly spaced around the drain, then press the shower pan into the piles, and kinda rock and smoosh the pan down until it bottoms against the floor. The mortar will squeesh around a fill the space. Keep an eye on the drain pipe to see that it is centered in the rubber donut as you do your smooshing.
