grout still looks dirty after 3rd try
Hello, I'll try to keep this short and give the necessary details.
We had a complete bathroom remodel. Converted area where old tub was to walking shower. The contractor tore out old tub, prepped surface and built out bench, had fiberglass put in, etc.
They insisted we use fusion pro grout on the floor because it is stain free. We concurred. The tile of the shower and floors was done and grouted and there is no problem with the grout. It was just regular sanded grout that was mixed.
They installed the epoxy grout on the shower floor. It seemed fine, but we noticed a couple of weeks later, it was soft. We had not waited the 7 days because we were told next day usage was fine.
So contractor tore grout out and replaced with Fusion Pro grout again. We waited 7 days and the grout was still soft.
When the contractor returned we told them we just wanted regular grout since this did not seem to be curing. So, they installed the regular sanded mixed grout. We waited 3 days, and it was hard but there were places on it that were dirty and discolored. If I scrubbed on them, they would get somewhat better but not completely.
Contractor came out again and regrouted, but did not tear out old grout. Once again it's with the sanded grout. It looked great at first. Even after 3 days there were only 2 areas that were a little dark. After I ran the shower water to clean it and it dried, there are many different places on the grout that look dirty.
Why would it look dirty after being washed? We are just very tired of this and don't know what to do, or why this is happening.
Thanks ahead of time for your input.
