In an effort to increase traffic on the Advice Board and the Decorating Board, I've changed the rules to allow unregistered guests to post, reply, etc. I think it was a mistake on my part to expect everyone who showed up around here to sign up for the "cookies." I think some people are turned off by that. And I do sincerely want to make an effort to help as many people as we can.
The moderators will still be able to edit and delete any post. And I'll try to keep an eye on things so that we don't have to put up with filthy language, deliberately hurtful posts and idiots in general.
The Hangout will still be registered people only. Anybody spreads you know what on this board, well, I think we all want to know who they are and what their credentials are. I mean, what kind of booze do they drink, etc. The really important stuff.
I'm also going to create a new board for people to advertise on, post notices on, etc. I hope my friend Vaughan (administrator) at Info Tile doesn't accuse me of plagiarism, but to an extent that's what it is. They were there first, and I'm just playing catch-up.
I'm still thinking about the "soapbox board," Bud. (Notice how words start out as two words, become hyphenated words, and ultimately end up as one word -- "soapbox"?) But we seem to be getting by in that department on this board.
John :-)
P.S. I'm interested in any comments or advice on how to better run the forum in general. You all know as much about it as I do.
