So, the last post to this thread was a year ago. Any follow-up/feedback to how Spectralock 1 holds up?? I just finished laying my shower floor (standard mud bed) with a 3" diamond-shaped, porcelain mosaic tile. I will be grouting this weekend and was looking at using the Spectralock 1. I've only worked with cement-based grouts, so not familiar with using Spectralock 1 or epoxy grouts (I know Spectralock 1 isn't an epoxy). My main concern is a durable, maintenance-free grout on the floor. Cost isn't an issue, so if epoxy is the best and is doable for a DIYer, than that is fine. I welcome any feedback on another option for the shower floor grout as well. Thanks!

SL1 is nice! Really nice! It's my fav of the premixed grouts.

I'm doing Spectralock Pro Premium epoxy on my shower pans and Spectralock1 on the walls. It's a nice combo.

Of all the premixed grouts, SL1 is the one I would trust the most on shower floors but I'm still using epoxy on mine.

The big downside? It's over $100 for the same volume container. I haven't compared the back of the bucket numbers for how far the manufacturer's claim they'll go but it appears SL1 is 2x the cost for another brand's equivalent.

Using Latecrete S 1

Doing Porcelain 24x24 Italy tiles on floor over Schluter Ditra XL
and Schluter All Set gray - Picked the tile to have a cement, industrial look
and the LSP1 matches perfectly. Open the bucked and it has a solid dark
gray appearance - goes on moist and smooth - pressing into 1/8 grout line.

It dries perfectly in color but I’ve been noticing the dark gray now is
getting whiter areas in the grout and it’s not staying consistent ,
Another thing that bugs me is when I finish an area of intersecting tile,
I might continue past the cross 2 or 3 inches when ending for that section.
Let’s say I return a week or two later to pickup where
I left off, I notice the grout in the cross end areas will crumble when
I go over the end area with my metal hook shape flat edge tool. I mentioned
it to Floor and Decor, we picked another one out, checked the date,
and this one did the same thing. I did not try it in and of the areas but where I left off and I I wanted to remove 1,2,3 inch length of grout it crumbled out of the line. The color gray escapes my mind and I wonder if I am going to have problems down the road. I mean this is interior and it does this yet they claim it’s good for outside. I make sure grout line is clean, press LS1 in the line working it in with good rubber grout trowel, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, use slightly wet grout sponge in very light circular motion to smooth grout area, and clean tile - go back an hour later to scrub tile with slight water doodle sponge and wipe with micro towel. Very easy - something doesn’t seem right unless that is how grout hardens - seems it should be rock hard and not crumble so easy … just looked it up and color is Raven
