After having good success tiling my bathroom I’ve decided to tackle another project for which I am under qualified. The previous tile was laid such that it was higher than the level of the surrounding hardwood. I would like to ensure that the tile I lay is flush with the hardwood
The vertical tiles of the surround were laid on top of the original tiles that were set there which was laid on top of about an inch thick mud bed which was on top of brick. So there is a hefty chunk I have to build back out to have a proper substrate on which to lay my tile.
What I need to figure out now is how to level out the floor substrate once I have demo’d down far enough - slc, cbu, or just mud? And also how to build out the vertical aspect to be plum or just shy of the trim that is there - cbu or mud?
