Kelly, 2' of snow in Bufalow! Another foot on the way, and I think Cami is getting the same thing. The Moose are probably breaking down her garage door.

Somehow I knew I'd be mentioned in this thread.... Yes, I'm getting some snow. A little elf mentioned there's a digital camera that's an improvement over the Federal Witness Protection version that I'm currently using, so I'll try to post a few pics of the Winter Wonderland today (or soon). Today is the final family Christmas, and I'm just waiting for everyone to come over... I'll be back tonight- looks like I have a bit of reading from the last 4-5 days to catch up with. Hope everyone had a great holiday!!
Lake effect: how having one Great Lake 50 yards away to the east and another 4 miles to the west messes with your weather.

No snow on the ground in the "Gunks" 80 miles NW of NY.
Lake effect is when the air sucks a bunch of water outta the lake (sort of like the lime in cement does to your hands when you forget to buy gloves), The moist air goes up, gets cold & comes down as white stuff.

Geez, I always thought the lake effect was when you drove off the dock, effectively sobered you right up.

Thank you all you snow persons for bringing me up to speed. You'll be interested to know the southern extreme of your little weather event has reached Houston and caused me to venture out on my deck and cover some of my more delicate tropicals. It's actually dipped to the freezing mark during the night recently.
Er, Jim, maybe you've experienced your version of the lake effect once too many times?

Ok, let's see if I can do this...
View from the backyard..
Out the front door-
If you look closely, you'll see a dock for Jim to drive off..
The sky was a strange color this morning, but not that blue. Guess I need to install that Photoshop now.

Guess I can't.
Why did that work in the previews, but not in the actual post?

Cami, I couldn't get it to work in the preview. I think it just takes a long time to load. You can view the pics at Yahoo.

Yeah, give it time. The pictures do load. It's just the slowness of the site you posted them to.
