Problem is, we dunno neither.
While it could be as simple as a bonding problem with the floor tiles, there's no way for any of us to know until one of us tears out the floor tiles, eh? And since you're the onliest one there, best I can tell, looks like you're fixin' to be nominated to find out for us.
What Jeff is tellin' you is that if he came to look at your shower and you wanted it repaired, there's no way he would contract to do that. Too many variables, too much at stake.
But it's your house and your shower and you can just tear stuff out 'till you determine the problem, hope you've not caused any more problem, and repair it to your satisfaction.
