Talavera Mexican Tile in Floor tile patter?

Ok guys. I've read john's book and several others in getting ready to start my tile floor project. I'm wanting to use ceramic or porcelain "saltillo look" tile in a diagonal pattern with randomly placed 4x4 corner dots using assorted Talaveral mexican tile as the dots.

However everything i can find recommends NOT using Talavera tiles on the floor. I assume this is because the are essentially wall tiles.

I've seen this design in several pics and like the look.

Would Talavera type tiles (4x4) work as decorative dots on a 12X12 tile floor?

Are the pics I've seen using something similar to talavera tiles?

Suggestions?

Incidentally the name is hrdtail (Bobby if you insist). I know how you like to use names.

Hi Bobby,

I think you're looking at talavera tiles, but they are soft. I wouldn't do it in a kitchen, but maybe in other areas that receive less traffic.
