Best contractor ever - Davy

I wanted to say thank you so much for this forum. I began reading about 6 years ago when I was getting ready to buy a house.

As I was reading, I would notice the people who would answer a lot of questions and seemed to get respect from other members. One of those people was Davy Stephens. I also realized from the details in his profile, that he was local to me. I thought to myself that if I ever needed tile work, I would contact him.

I did just that, early last year when I was ready to do a gut bathroom remodel. I had to wait a long time. Part of that was my schedule and part of it was his. I waited though, because I wanted somebody who knew his stuff!

I got that and then some. He not only did a great job on my tile work, he set me up with other professionals that have been wonderful.

Even though Davy's work was finished in early November, we are just now finishing up the other aspects of the remodel. As we near the end, I find myself reflecting on how lucky I am to have been able to hire Davy. I don't think I would have gone through with this remodel if I hadn't fully trusted him to do the job right. And I trusted him before he even started, because of reading what he posted on here for so many years.

I have read so many horror stories about bathroom and especially shower remodeling, on here and there are also a lot on the gardenweb/Houzz forums. I'm just so happy that I didn't have to go through that.

Anyway, if anyone on here is in the Dallas area reading or lurking, you would be lucky to have Davy as your tile professional.

Thanks, Terra.

Some of us are not surprised. Most of the folks on these forums we know only by their online participation here. Very few do we actually know and have met, have seen their work, know their work ethic and business practices, etc. Davy is an exception. We know that anyone else who might contract with him will get the same level of service you appear to have gotten. He's worth waiting for.

My opinion; worth price charged.

Thanks for the update Terra!

Its a breath of fresh air to hear a good story from the start.

I too have had the honor of meeting Davy (and "little Davy") aside from sharing so much knowledge on this forum.

You done right by hiring him and waiting.

Whew. I'm so glad it was ok to post this. I think I have to have a few posts before I can post pics. However, I'm not very tech savvy, so I'm not sure I could figure out how. Maybe my husband will help, or maybe Davy will post the pics I send him.

The plumbing fixtures go in on Monday, and then it will be finished except having the carpenter come back to install the knobs and pulls on the vanity.

I will also say, every other contractor who came here had nice things to say about the tile job. Especially when we showed them pics of the mud job under the tile. They all said you don't see them done like that much anymore. I pity the person who has to hear it down for the next remodel, but that won't be me!

If it weren't for the glass, it would be the safest place in my house to be for a tornado.

Thanks, Terra. It was a pleasure doing your tile work. I'm sorry it took so long to get to it but glad it all worked out in the end.

Terra, we don't often get reports on finished projects, and pretty much never on one of our own here. So we're glad you took the time to tell us about your experience with Davy.

Unfortunately, one rule we have here is that if there ain't no pitchers, it didn't happen.

You’re saying that we need to take back all the compliments unless we get pictures?
