Cars on the beach

Trask
You remember Ryan here at the party. Back a few years he and some friends were driving on the beach at Ocean Shores night and during a period like this with lots of rain. Your know how the creeks can eat away and have sometimes a foot or more bank on each side. He drove into one and couldn't get out. Had to walk back to Ocean Shores for help and when they got back there was only the top 8" of the car showing and in the morning it was GONE!

Our Northern Border Patrol is very effective and never complains!!!

Orginally posted by RubberFrog back in Sep 05. What he neglegted to tell us was that the cops were the ones in the car taking the picture and that the couple on the bike were pulled over and arrested for possession of crack. Doh!

1. That's NOT my Gramma
2. I don't look like that (yet)

I am thankful

A mouse poked his nose where he shouldn't have in my central air unit.

I found this spider while I was cleaning debris from my creek. The second picture gives an idea of the size. Anyone know what kind of spider this is?

I think it is a fishing spider. They are pretty big. Depending on the species the body runs from 0.5 to 1 inch in length. Then add the legs!!! They feed primarily on insects, but will catch tadpoles and an occasional minnow. All are found near water.

Looks to me like the dreaded Titelus Americanus Hookus spider usually found in ponds or streams or high grass. Extremely shy and once out of site rarely seen again.

Thanks Bugman. I did some research and you are right about it being a Fishing Spider. I appreciate it. I've been trying to figure it out for a long time. I found another one recently while replacing the drain pipes from my gutters. It was about 70% the size of the one in the picture. That log was under the water and I pulled it out and that monster crawled into view.

Mike, the kind you squash made me laugh my a@# off. But, I just let it go about its business.

The Kane County, Illinois, Sheriff's Department orders plain white patrol units and has the graphics applied locally. In this case, what they ordered was not quite what they got. This car was driven for 1 week before an officer noticed what the graphics company employee did on the passenger side of the car. The employee did this on his last day working for the graphics company before he retired.
