Handheld diamond grit sander

I have a question about a raised corner on an installed 16 x 16 piece of marble on a wall. Can I flatten the corner area that is not level with the surrounding pieces? In other words, sand it down and polish it to not be noticeable. I'm thinking to start with a handheld diamond sanding block.

It’s not likely that your repaired area will match the polished sheen of the surrounding area, especially without mechanical polishing equipment. Repairs made by stone restoration specialists will generally polish the entire floor or entire wall to avoid this very problem. If you could mask off the surrounding tiles and strictly keep your work to the single tile, any sheen differences would be less objectionable, as they’d be separated by a grout line...but I suspect you’d still be unhappy with the results.

If this is a new installation, replacing the tile...no matter how much of a pain, would be much more preferable.

If this is an existing installation, do you have any spare tiles you could experiment with ahead of time?
