New tile saw blade causes vibrations
How normal is it for a new tile saw blade to cause vibrations?
I have a Dewalt d24000 & the original blade ran smoothly, but I think I got the life that I could out of it so I bought a different one, an RTC Shield blade. It makes the machine vibrate. Put the old blade on and reinstalled the new one a few times to see if I was doing something wrong, but the old blade ran smooth and the new one always vibrates.
I was sent a new blade, with RTC thinking that maybe the center hole wasn't properly centered, but the new one does the same thing.
After looking more closely at the blades, I found that if I used calipers on the cutting teeth, they were slightly longer on one side than the other, so that slight difference in weight is what seems to be causing it on both blades they sent. It's as if the tires on a car are not balanced properly and they shake as you drive down the highway.
Not being a pro at this, I would like to know whether this is considered normal or if these are both bad blades.
Thanks.

How 'bout a link to the blade you got, Andy? Is it the Razor style or the Turbo style?
Sounds like maybe the Turbo from your description and I've not used that in anything but the 4.5" size on an angle grinder. Have not even seen it in a 10" size, but I can see there being a potential balance problem with that design in that size.
From your description I would suspect both blades had a problem. Have you contacted Russo again about the second blade?

It's the turbo version. This is the blade, & yes the 10" version of course:

I only did this follow-up test today so I haven't contacted them about it again yet -- was wondering about expectations before I did so on Monday.
I'm the type of person who doesn't want to waste their time if this is considered normal, but the vibration sure doesn't seem like a good thing.

It’s not normal and should be corrected.

Thanks for the feedback from both you -- I'll see what they'll do about it tomorrow.

Hi Andy,
We're on very close terms with RTC. They harbor the John Bridge Forums furniture at the annual Coverings tile show.
I would ask them to exchange the turbo for a smooth (continuous) rim blade.

Thanks again for the responses -- we will essentially be doing an exchange, swapping the Shield Turbo for the T3 Razor.
And I also want to thank RTC for working with me on doing the swap even though I bought it several months ago and the thing sat while I finished up other projects before starting the fireplace granite tile.

I've used the Turbo and, if balanced properly, it cuts well....but doesn't last long. My "Go To" blade is the T3 Razor. Good product.

RTC are good peeps. You will be satisfied with that T3 Razor.
