Lets kick the dead horse once more.
1/2 exterior plywood with 3/8 thin-set and 6x6's with grout fully cured
or
1/4 thinset on underside of 1/2 CBU, then 3/8 thinset and 6x6's
with grout fully cured
(Simulating all the floor components above a standard 3/4 EGP.)
Which mock-up panel would do less flexing if it was spanning a 16o.c and wieght applied then measured from underneath for deflection...like a robinson tester would do?

I think either one would work. Both systems would meet the requirments in "The Book" I might lean towards #1

Would meet the requirements in WHICH book?
Looks to me like you're still bent on treating the tile and grout as a structure instead of a cladding, which it what it is.

I must not be seeing something. Looks to me like JC is talking about 1/2 inch plywood with tile and grout over it.

John,
Dont forget to read b/n the parenthesis:
(Simulating all the floor components above a standard 3/4 EGP.)
Unless I'm mistaken

But Mr. Gobis did not vote for, nor does he like the OSB method, for the record. And if it is based on phenolic resin, never will.

Okay, I see the 3/4.
Now what's all this high-tech talk about voting rights. We handed that to the girls in 1920.
