The worst job................

I just finished a floor that was 13 x13 tile on a 45. The funniest thing ever is the homeowner sat in a lounge chair with a cooler next to her and watched me all 3 days. Wanted 3/8 " grout joints. The looked trench lines to me. And made me roll golf balls on the floor and show it was level and done before she payed me. Dude Give me a drink aftre that floor better yet I need a week off.

Dan-- maybe so, but look at the bright side-- just think of the referrals you'll get from that kind of quality!! I've done work down there, and there aren't many who'll take the time. You just got yourself an attaboy!!

Material Breach

If the golf ball standard of level was not discussed when the contract was formed then I would think it would be a material breach (change) to the contract. Ah, am I supposed to be polite here like on the public forum and not criticize? If you'll were plumbers you won't have to be so nice because the customers know you deal with sh**.

I know I've told this story before, but it bears retelling, in reference to the caulking the windows thing. When I lived in Homestead, Fla., we did a patio for a friend of my boss' . When we first got on the job, the guy pulled my boss aside and asked if he could get a break on the price. My boss told him sure-- just let us know what he wanted us to leave out-- the grout, or the thinset.

true story.

I remember that story a few months ago Bill. Turns out , when you approach the customers in that fashion, they shut up and pay...............I've done it once..........thinking on doing it with every job.........
