I tiled a N.Y. style bathe few years ago, I had to choose between strip of tile above floor or above tub. I did not like it, so I put first row above floor vertically - It actually looked nice and broke "boring" pattern on walls. Nice work everyone.

Thanks, He has a 700 ft basement to tile, he is gonna do it himself, maybe after that, they will call me to do the backsplash.  We may see him here asking for advice, that's ok with me, I'm grateful for the work they gave me. And I'm sure I will get some referall work out of it.
