Thin Brick???
First thing Monday morning I have to quote a thin-brick job. Have never done the stuff. What is the going rate around the country and what are the pitfalls?
Any advice or comments are appreciated.
Now...I have to beat feet for a seminar at of all places Harrah's in Council Bluffs Iowa. Too bad huh? Dontcha just hate hazardous duty? Be back tomorrow evening.
Appreciate the help.

The shop just did a ground round with that product Bud (glad i didnt have to do it) The owner of the shops father did the work (he used to own the shop) I believe the rate was 3.75 s/f for the installation (labor only) Now, there was a few thousand feet with arches etc so you may be able to figure less if its straight laid or more if its less footage. I can double check that figure in the morning (yes,i have to work cause i bailed 2 days to go pick up my boat) I'll confirm for you saturday evening!!

We have done alot of the stuff.Extruded only..All outside..Driveways and patios.Used modified thinset
and sand mix for grout.Should seal 2 times before
grout..A bitch in the sun to grout!!!Used sealers choice
but I think porus plus would work better.Got 5.00
per foot..On big jobs have enough labor to get with
it on the grout part..

Yes, I've never had a problem with grouting extruded. It's the wire cuts that'll kill ya. Had a big driveway one time -- maybe four-five thousand feet. Wire cut sort of brownish red. Grouted with portland and course silica. Never did get it totally clean. Next time I matched the brick with the grout and had no problems.

Just got off the phone, seems 5.75 s/f is closer to the mark with some additions put on for the arches etc.Now that was put in for 3500 s/f of brick,about 4000 s/f of quarry and about 1500 s/f of wall tile. if all your doing is brick, i would consider a bit higher even.I know it was very time consuming!!Don put in some very long days.Good thing he was retired and had the time

This product is for walls and not used on driveways. It is wall brick not pavers.
Extruded or wire-cut? Beats me.
It works with installing metal strips for gauges then the brick is applied using the gauges as a guide. The corners are preformed "L"'s.
I'm not even sure thinset is used for adhesive at this point.
I'm assuming regular grout will be used and yes it is bagged. Bagging and tooling THAT MUCH regular grout isn't very exciting work.
This is an interior installation, some kind of a coffee shop or something.

I stopped by and watched Don do some of the brickwork in the ground round. Its tedious and time consuming and you need to take your time.
At the same job a couple of our other guys did 1 straight wall and it looked like it had waves in it.A good walleye chop for that matter.Too big a hurry is what don said.Done right it looks great Bud.Done wrong,well its like anything else
