I feel obligated to tell you some alternatives. If you mess this up, you can use a honing powder to fix it, so you’re not out any.
1.You can use sandpaper. Try around a 400 grit, or so, then go from there.
2.You can try to wash the top with white vinegar and water mixed 50/50. This will etch the whole top.
No matter what you do, I recommend sealing with TYW Stone Armor after you achieve the finish you like, as long as it’s not a polish. Armor will give you a little more time to clean up etching materials, but it will not hold acids out indefinitely.
