I'm now working on my bathroom floors. It's a new project, so I think a new thread is OK.

The question I have is where to have the transition line between the tile in the bathroom and carpet in the adjoining bedroom? I height of the finished tile will only be a little higher than the adjacent carpet, so I want to try the transition I've seen described on this forum that butts the tile next to the carpet with no metal transition strip.

So, based on the picture I've shown here, where should the tile come up to? A or B or somewhere else? Between the lines of A and B is where the door is when closed. The tile in the picture shows what side the bathroom is on.

The tile stops at the half way point between A & B. Reason; when the dooor is closed, the flooring from the adjoining space will not be seen under the door.

Schluter makes a nice product for tile-to-carpet transitions. I know you said you don't want a transition strip, but this only shows about 1/16" and looks really good. It's an especially good idea if your layout requires cut edges at the transition. It's available at HD.

If you want to tuck the carpet, you may need to raise it a little. Google "Carpet shims" for a pre-made ramp, or make your own from cedar shingles or the like.

Thanks for the carpet to tile tips. I undercut the door jambs to where Paul said.

I used Hardibacker with Buildex Backer-On screws, which they say are designed for Hardibacker. I didn't pre-drill, just used an impact driver for them. Most of the screws didn't completely countersink into the board. They were tight though and would hardly budge with a hand driver. I hope it is OK, without them being completely countersunk.

Well, they'll have to be OK, since I just set most of the tiles. With the thickness of the thinset, I can't see where the screwheads would be an issue.

I used the LASH System, and it looks pretty level.
