S.E.O. maybe off topic

Hello gang.
I am related to Jack Hamilton and he referred me to this forum. I have been struggling with a website getting page rank and placement on the internet. Jack mentioned that this forum has many experienced experts in this field. Need some help, ideas, etc etc. I hope this thread does not get bombed. TX

Welcome, Alan. Jack tole us to expect you. Put that first name into a permanent signature line for us, wouldja?

We've got some pretty savvy computer persons hanging about, some of whom have a substantial interest in site rankings and such. They will surely stop by.

Oh, and I ain't one of'em.

Hi Alan, I'm interested in what YOU can teach me, but I don't know that we want to burden a bunch of people with it. Maybe, though. I'm not an expert, but I've done some things on this site that have improved our ratings, and so has my partner DaveM. Ask questions if you like, or shoot me an email.

you're talking about how to get your website to come up higher in the listings when someone searches for relevant terms?

relevant words and labels are what gives your website rank.

Here are just a few tips:

Make sure EVERY page has a title
Make sure EVERY page has metatags set
Make sure EVERY picture on your site has its ALT text set

The bots that scan sites and set rank can only do so by reading the text of the site, both normal text and the HTML code beneath.

You can insubstantially better your ranking by having as many links to your web page as possible. Search engines have bots that crawl the web, the more links they find to your web page the more it rises to the top.

I have found that I can increase the web presence of my web site by frequently making sure that I feed the web crawlers that visit this site.
If I were you I would find and forum that is very active and relates to your business.
I have found that if I will in a post every month or so put in key words like "tile installation Seattle" , "Jerry The Tile Guy" "tile installation seattle"
my web presence is pretty good. A search won't lead to my web site but it will usually on the first page of a google search will lead you to a post but I have made on this forum and there is the link to my web site and the phone number. IMO feeding the web crawlers is the key.
Good Luck
