Enhancing/Sealing Exterior Brick

Hope this isn't too OT. We built our brick home 26 years ago. The brick has faded, and before the new windows are installed, we'd like to spray an enhancer/sealer to deepen the color...much like when it's wet. What product would be best for this and can you spray it on with a garden sprayer?
Thanks,
Monica

For something like that, I like "Aqua-Mix Stone Enhancer." I don't know if a sprayer can get enough pressure and a fine mist that you want. I'd just use a paint roller....but, what the hay~~~give it a try!

Built 26 years ago? I doubt the brick has faded, but I'll bet it's much dirtier than you think. Before I attempted enhancer, I'd check into having it cleaned by a masonry restoration specialist. You'd have to clean it anyway before attempting an enhancer.

You could probably pressure wash it yourself, but be very careful. It's easy to blow out mortar that has cracked, damage caulking, and drive moisture behind flashings. Revealing those little mortar cracks is also good in the sense that they should be repointed, bad caulking replaced, and loose flashing reattached.

After you clean it thoroughly, if you think you want to proceed with an enhancer, Aqua Mix Stone Enhancer would be my choice. Remember however, that any enhancer not absorbed needs to be wiped/buffed off. Depending on the texture of the brick, that alone could be quite an undertaking. Like any enhancer, do a test patch first.

whew! On second thought, maybe it's not as faded as I thought it was
I should have known it wasn't going to be as simple as I'd hoped. Maybe we'll rethink this in another 26 years <lol>
