Hall layout

I am planning on doing a hallway with 13x13 tiles in a straight pattern. The hallway is about 3 1/2 to 4 feet wide and about 12 feet long. Is it necessary to layout a grid or can I just start on one wall and work across? The rooms that join the hallway have tile but they are diagonal so I don't have to match any grout lines. Thanks.

You don't have to do anything. I like to lay out a grid or at least a few reference lines to make sure I have straight tiles and no little tile slivers along one wall. Also, If your walls are not perfectly straight, your tiles won't be either. Why don't you want to spend the 15min snapping chalklines?

I concur. How long could it take to lay out a few dozen tiles? You'll be glad you did in the long run. It's not like they show on tv. Plan ahead for your layout. You don't want slivers on one wall or slanted tiles because your walls aren't square.

I don't mind to snap lines. The longest wall is an interior wall. Should I just go parallel off of it?
