Backbutter or Not on Marble 3*6 Subway Tile?

I've installed tiles of all sizes, most recently 24*48. Anyway, I always back butter, but I've actually never installed marble 3*6 subway tile. By habit, I'm thinking about backbuttering...should I or would I be wasting my time? Also, not sure if it makes a difference, but (1) I'm planning on using 3/16" x 1/4" V notch trowel and (2) it's kitchen backsplash, not bathroom.

Thoughts?

I’m the same way. But for a kitchen backsplash, I would not. I’d use a good, sticky modified white thinset mortar. And I’d check my coverage after setting a few tiles and be prepared the increase the notch size, if necessary.

I'd use a 1/4" square notch trowel for that size tile.
