More Glitter Grout

Most recent thread we have for these glitter grout products is from back in 2016, so I'm looking for an update.

Adult child living in a house I built for her parents in 1986 is looking to upgrade her kitchen counters and backsplashes and sent me this link. I can't open many of the links in there on accounta I have none of the required social media accounts, but it appears to be suggesting that the glitter additives are available not only for epoxy grouts now, but cementitious grouts.

I participated in testing one of the earlier epoxy versions at the CTEF back in '05 with Laticrete's grout and phosphorescent additive and I think also the glitter. I've not touched either additive since then.

At least one of the links I got from that article was this v1rtus, which says it can be added to cementitious grout. Anyone tried such a mixture?

She's one of the very few who could entice me out of retirement temorarily, and I'll still try very hard to dissuade her from this glitter choice, but looking for recent experience with this glitter stuff if I can't. That kitchen just wasn't built for glitter!

She might want to look into Mapei Flexcolor 3D.
I remember the Laticrete Dazzel Products. No one ever "bit" on doing that grout. (Thank God!!)

The title of this thread should be “No more glitter grout”

Used epoxy version once. Personally did not like it. I tell my clients if they want to use it to pick a bolder looking tile.

That said if my daughter asked my answer would be “whatever you want princess”

I was with MAPEI when they were developing Flexcolor 3D and it can certainly do what you're thinking of doing with less fuss than shown in the article you posted. Bostic has one too, it's not as see-through as the Flexcolor version which may or may not be an advantage.

I know MAPEI in Europe sells just the glitter than you can add to other grouts but I don't believe they've made them available in the US since they Flexcolor 3D was designed as a ready to use product.

Thanks, Dan. My primary focus will be on convincing this young lady that she really, really don't want no steenkin' glitter grout in her kitchen.

But if I hafta, I'll look into that 3D grout.

Our SPECTRALOCK Dazzle glitter component can be added to our SPECTRALOCK epoxy grouts and our ready to use grouts such as: READY-TO-USE grout and SPECTRALOCK 1.
