I think the players should be able to transfer as well, they should not suffer from this backlash that is starting. JoePa is gone, Sandusky is convicted.... They should make a clean sweep and prove to people Penn State is about teaching young people the right ways and educating. When you put such empowerment in one person and worship that person and that is destroyed you start to look at people like that differently. They have power but are no different than anyone with their faults but we put them on a pedestal and worship the person.

Time to get universities back on track at what is really important, educating. Get football and all the behind the scenes and money where it should be, behind education. College football has always been a great sport for entertaining since you don't have the high salaries yet like in Pros. The fact of the matter is there is a lot of money and paying off behind the scenes, this is one example of the abuse of power in this game people so worship.

Penn State has been so high up over the years because of JoePa. Long way to come down and it is already starting, to a very low place. I wonder if the students still feel as they did about JoePa, many will support him whether they think he did wrong or not because it tarnishes Penn State not just the football program. "We are Penn State' will more than likely not be in the cheerleaders program. Maybe something more like "We are embarrassed" by our leaders.

On a side note I hear they're gonna leave Paterno's statue up, but they're gonna turn the head the other way...

I saw that too, Roger...

I pretty much agree with everything you said, Jon. I'm not a big college football fan and definitely not a Penn State fan. That said, I always had a certain respect for Paterno and the program he ran there. I even almost felt sorry for him when he got fired. Maybe the ol guy just didn't really grasp what was going on with that whole situation. Well, now we know that truth... Sad on so many levels...

Penn State football needs to be given the death penalty for an indefinite period of time in light of this. The statue needs to come down and like Jon said, the university needs to get back to doing what it's supposed to be, an institution of higher education.

I haven't been following this real closely, but it seems to me that Paterno is being crucified for Sandusky's horrible crime.

That would be Sandusky's horrible crimes and Joepa, along with others, is part of the reason it went on for so long.

JoePa was the king shit at State college, right? That means he had the power to get his way in virtual any matter. He could have prevented many kids from going through this horror. He chose to protect the monster instead of the kids. Makes him guilty in my book.

Jack, I think what is important here is they got the leader here who committed the crimes and he has to pay. We all know by now all the higher ups by not doing anything and protecting one a their own, allowed it to go on. As far as I am concerned anyone who saw anything and did not follow up and make sure someone was aware of it and did something(not talking about the Penn State Brainwashed campus cops), they are an accessory. Prosecutors often want the leader of the ring and in this case they got him. Now the inmates can have out of him what they need

I hate to have to say this but JoePa got out of this easy, not having to deal with the accusations. I can hear him now taking questions from the media.... "comm'on guys lets talk about our new recruits for Sandy, I mean the football team." He would have just been a coward and refused to talk to the media and not addressed it. Wonder if he ever thought his powerful image would be such name that doesn't have much power behind it anymore. He had power and as mentioned used it to become a legend in his own mind, used it for his own power not to empower students. If one lesson has been learned by Penn State worshipers is not to worship your coaches

but you know the big part of him passing after he got fired was him worrying himself inside about this. that probably contributed to his passing.

Had he still been alive I think there would have been a very good chance he would have faced charges.

It won't matter Dana, when all the law suits are done with there won't be a Penn State! They are done! Stick a fork in them!

As bad as this is, I don't think it's a matter for the NCAA. No NCAA violations were broken.
