Gracious, fall has arrived with a blustery band. Some of you will remember the tornado in my district a few years ago (Americus, GA.) There was another Thursday night. IT took off half of a little country store but thankfully kept itself in the country. Not too much other dsamage.

Huge storms Thursday night. Incredible lightning and thunder. It got down in the 40s last night and it should stay that way until middle of next week. Highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s. Right now it's very overcast and windy. 56 degrees. I think my swimming pool ventures are over for the year.

Nothing unusual for this island but interesting nonetheless. We have been "stranded" for the past few days as the ocean claimed the only road off the island. To the south, soundside flooding prevented passage to the Hatteras ferries as the roads in the village were under water.

Some great images of the past few days on both of the following sites. Check the slide shows.

Had lots of lake effect snow here in Upstate New York since sun night. If the winds are from the north or northwest going across Lake Ontario....LOOK OUT !!!!

Been out plowing 3 out of the last 5 days. Nothing like bombing around at 2am in the f-350 diesel with the windows down, temp at 11f,heater and radio cranked up on high, a Amp energy drink in one hand and the plow controls in the other pushing 4 inches of white stuff into neat little piles!

As of now, this area is under a blizzard watch, starting tomorrow morning (Saturday) till Sunday.

Getting reports for anywhere of several inches of snow to more than a foot.

I am prepared to do battle with whatever comes my way. What will be, will be. Such is life.

In fact, like a little kid, I'm excited about the entire, possible event.

Let it snow, let it snow. It's Christmas time.

The official total for Winston-Salem was six inches but a few hours away in the mountains, some areas received up to two feet. Very big storm for this area.
