Less than a month ago, John McCain was on a roll and appeared to be pulling ahead of Barrack Obama. Now, a month before the election, it appears that Obama is a shoo in to win the presidency. Funny how quickly things can change. While the financial collapse will most likely prove to be McCain's undoing, I find the choice of Sarah Palin to be questionable at best. Yeah, I liked her at first, or at least thought I did. Any person who enrages the far left can't be that bad, eh?
But alas, the love affair has worn off and I find the more she talks, the more I tire of her. Truth is, I'm tired of all four of these posers. Neither candidate or their running mates represents my values or my family's needs and I see no reason to continue to invest my emotions in this farce of an election. Seriously, what do you guys/gals see in these people? My absentee ballot has been sitting on my desk for two weeks and I still haven't filled it. Maybe I'll burn it in protest.

I agree that things are quickly tipping in Obama's favor. We still have a month to go, so a lot can happen. Who knows what skeletons lurk in who's closet?

The dollar is in serious trouble. As a consequence, so is our economy. More than that, the world economy is in peril since the dollar has been the standard reserve currency.

When the Chinese quit lending us money, the neoconservatives (in both parties) will no longer be able to prosecute wars or advance their foreign policy of empire-building.

When the Democrats take over, it will be interesting to see how the conservatives view the government powers of the Patriot Act. The tools of the Patriot Act will prove useful to those wanting to advance fascism or socialism.

You may be right, Rick. But a good many of those for whom you speak will go out and vote against a pair of these buffoons anyway. The buffoons that they do vote for will interpret that vote as a full endorsement, and perhaps even a mandate of the people!

Obviously, the system doesn't work. But the state-loving media control the parameters of the national debate. We're not allowed to question the legitimacy of the system.

to send a message to the politicians that we had enough of their BS and corrupt

May I suggest that instead of not voting, or holding your nose while voting for the "lesser", you register your disdain of the one party with two heads system we have been forced to accept by voting for one of the other candidates on the ballot. Doesn't matter which one, the point of such an action would be a demonstration that an as yet unknown percentage of the electorate is tired of being force fed the same old crap. Imagine if 10 - 15% of those who vote did pull the lever for "none of the above" by voting against the power that is--I think that would be a powerful message to that power, and a great opportunity for a more populous oriented coalition to form into a viable alternative party. We need to do this for our kids and grandkids and the future of representative government in this country.

Get out and vote--but vote against the establishment if you are not happy with what we've been offered.

You mean like how Ross Perot got Bill Clinton elected in 1992 - with 43% of the vote? If ever there was a test of that theory it was 1992 - and it failed miserably. Was Clinton any less empowered by his low margin? Not in the least. And most voters have forgotten all about it.

Or how about the 3% of Floridians who voted for Nader in 2000? Way more than Gore needed to win it all, but how many people remember?

The next President will be a "D" or "R" - just ask the Perot and Nader voters.

At least your candidates are INTERESTING. All we have up here in Canada is a buncha boring, inept clowns, and we have FIVE parties to choose from. But in the end it's really Harper and the so-called "conservatives" against the other four: Liberals, NDP (New Democratic Party), the Bloc Quebecois (a party that wants Quebec to separate), and the Green Party. All this has meant in recent times is that the Conservatives either win a majority or a minority because the other parties split the vote. We had a good run of it with the commodities boom and our banking sector is still solid, but -- go figure -- our stock market has tanked even worse than the NYSE. As we say up here, "when the U.S. sneezes, Canada catches a cold." This too shall pass, but it sure is painful.

Wasn't Sarbanes-Oxley (and its counterparts worldwide) supposed to regulate corporate governance and put an end to corruption? Well, THAT sure worked well. Why work hard and invest when the government takes away more than half of our earnings and then the market takes away all we're able to save after that? Time to start raising chickens in the backyard and bartering with the neighbors.
