Ricky, it'll help if you'll keep all your project questions on one thread so folks can see what you're working on and what's been previously asked and answered. We can give it a more generic title any time you'd like to suggest one.

What do the instructions for your new shower door say about attaching it?

With a sliding door with tracks top and bottom it may not require a great deal of support on the side walls. Expanding anchors into your CBU walls may be sufficient.

My opinion; worth price charged.

It does suggest "wall anchors" but the anchors given are for drywall (Which is a bit strange since drywall isn't supposed to be used in shower installations). My question I suppose is more anchor related. Can I use standard drywall anchors in cement board, or are there better cement board anchors?

This is the shower update. I still need to caulk and add the shower fixtures.

I've used drywall anchors a number of times through tile. You're going to have very little force pulling on them, so I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. Just make sure they're of sufficient length so they don't pull out of the wall once the screw is in place.

The tile is 1/2" thick, and the cement board is 7/16" I think (may be wrong). So I purchased standard plastic anchors that are around 1.25" deep. The wall is hollow behind the board, so I saw no sense having the screw any longer.

Should I drill the hole, then fill it with silicone before I even screw in the rail?

Are you saying that I am wrong about the thickness of the board, or that I should use silicone in the hole?

I am curious about the tub spout at the bottom of your shower?

When the original builder plumbed the bathroom before my reno they had installed it. At first I thought it was dumb, but now I use it to clean my feet and fill the humidifier etc.
