Questions re: shower remodel

We are currently in the midst of a shower remodel and are very concerned with a few things. Shower is 5x3 and tile will go up about 8 feet. Using 12x24 porcelain tile on shower wall and 2x2 porcelain on shower floor. We are needing to do this remodel because we had a leak and mold problem with previous shower. It is a huge concern for us.
1) Our contractor used a green membrane to cover everything before putting up Wonderboard cement board. We have been told by a couple people that the cement board should also have the green membrane on it? Our contractor stated that it would defeat the purpose of the cement board. Which is correct?
2) The other side of one of the shower walls is an outside wall made of cinder block. Contractor said it's not necessary to put a cement board up on this wall and will thin set right on top of the cinder block. Is this correct? Any water that seeps through the grout - where will it go?
3) We have chose Mapei Keracolor Sanded Grout for shower walls and Mapei Keracolor Unsanded Grout for the glass trim. We are still undecided on what to use on the shower floor. We are most concerned with cracking and mold prevention. We want something stronger than a regular grout. Our contractor is charging us more in labor, because we aren't using a standard cement grout. We have narrowed it down to the following and would like any recommendations:
Mapei UltracolorPlus
Bostik TruColor
Custom FusionPro

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks for your time!

Dora,

Welcome to the forum.

1- What is the name of the green membrane ? A liquid painted on or a sheet? Got pics?

2- This makes me nervous - is there any waterproofing on this cinderblock wall ? Got pics?

3- I'd go with Fusion Pro or Flexcolor CQ and there really shouldn't be much of a surcharge for such a small shower.

4- Got pics ?

Dora, has he talked about a shower pan? A traditional pan liner needs to turn up the walls and then the cement board over lap it. Not sure how he could do that type of pan and tile directly to the block wall. Maybe he's wanting to use a paint on membrane/pan.

Thank you for the quick responses.
1)The green membrane is Mapei AquaDefense
2) There is some old thinset on the cinderblock from the tiles that were on it before and there is AquaDefense over that. The first pic below is the wall before the AquaDefense and 2nd pic is after.

There is a rubber liner under the pan. It does go up the wall under the backerboard. We also verified there is vapor barrier under the backerboard. The 3rd pic is taken from the closet behind the shower. You can see the vapor barrier and then the liner at the bottom.

On the cinder block wall, it looks like he has the liner going up the wall and then put the Aqua Defense over it. You can't see it in the photos, but we were able to feel the liner and we could "hear" it when we tapped on the wall.

4th pic is the larger wall (behind it is the closet). 5th pic is shower pan.
