Cleaning old grout/thinset from ceramic tile

We had our shower tiled about 6 weeks ago. We have just noticed a couple of large spots (4-6") of gunk on the tile which might be grout over thinset, or just grout. It blended with the tile pattern when absolutely clean but is now quite noticeable. The grout has been sealed. Our contractor has since gone out of business. How can we clean this off?

Hi Trish, Welcome!

I would start with a single edge razor blade (carefully).
