I bought one of those Montolit DNA blades as well and it chipped when i first used it. Its almost like the blade needs to be broken in before it cuts clean.

Almost all blades must be broken in. Typically a dressing stone, cinder block, or even a chunk of dried thinset is used to dress the blade. This exposes the diamond matrix on the blade.

Might be more accurate to say that it wears away the matrix, exposing the diamonds.
