I read a very long passage on your forum in regards to Shower Pans and am in need of asking this:

In a newer one story home i have a 30 x 30" square shower stall that is fiberglass.

I am wanting to, and have planned out, an irregular shape shower stall that is a rectangular shape but with the front at a 15ยบ angle and is much larger than the old 30x30 fiberglass stall. I want to do the floors and walls in tile and saw that some people hot mop and some use a liner, and some even do neither.

What steps are needed to be done to make a proper pan on a bare cement floor, since my size is not standard and I cannot purchase nor do I want a pre-made fiberglass pan?

Hi,

We do recommend PVC shower pan liners. Hot mop is pretty much a California thing, and you need a shower pan mopper to do the work. Go with PVC.

There are several articles in our Liberry, including a very good one by Michaeld Byrne. Start there, and then ask questions.

If You Build It, It Will Come

Must be custom pan. Consult the Library Link, build them out of PVC, CPE or Hot Mop. Most of the guys here don't like hot mop, but it satisfies code, and if done correctly will be serviceable for decades.
