Referral service.

I did a search and didnt come up with any discussion on here..

What if John made a professional referral service. Any DIYer that was in need of a really good installer, could get a name of an installer. The installer looks at said job, bids it, gets it, and gives the forum a small percentage of the job. I know of another flooring website that does this, and is doing pretty good.

Make some type of legal disclaimer that JB forums is only providing a name and nothing else.

It would be easy to find out if the installer got the job and didnt give the kick back..

Hi Scotty, this has come up a few times before and each time it was decided that the site shouldn't be recommending unkown installers.

You will find that over time you will get referals from this site. I would guess that I get at least one call a month from someone looking for a bid that said they found out about us here.

I was recently invited to join a network of referal. Here is the website of the company in Wichita KS.

Looks rather good for the homeowner who is looking for reputable contractors. Requirements are strict and all contractors and subs must be screened and have good references. Contractor that does any work through the referal service pays a percentage to the company. I'm still working on the details.

Scott I have picked a few jobs from here. I think what we should do is we do get a job from here we should throw the website or Dave 10%. that would be sweet hell whats 10% on a job anyway a lunch for a week. I get most or all of my work word of mouth trust me Karam comes back to you. rite now i am booked out till april with work and trying to make everyone happy. I am not the cheapest nor the most $$$. I just try and get a fair days work for a fair days pay. good luck

I like dan's idear. I will commit to giving the school or the site 10% of any job I get from this site. So far I've been contacted by somebody from denver, but that is too far for me.

Actually I really wasnt talking about myself getting work. I was just looking for ideas to benefit the site. Ive been a member here for I think about 3-4 years. Got really burnt out doing floors. I bailed for a bit, then came back this year.

The only actual referal services I've ever heard of cost people money too join, and usually end up having a lot of hacks.

This particular referal service in Wichita does not let anyone buy in and those invited are by invitation only. Free to customer but the contractor pays a fee per each job done (not estimates). We pick and choose what jobs we want to take on and we do the estimating.

Sarrah called me today and I will meet with her next week to work out details. I don't need the extra work as I am set till April possibly May with all aspects of flooring. I am interested though for doing more upscale work and less carpets and vinyls in the future.
