Can a sealer help to repel dirt sticking?

Hello,

When we installed almost white ceramic tiles on our kitchen floor the first few years it was very easy to clean the floor. Dirt did not stick to it. How 15 years later the tiles look dirty after two days of kitchen work and then it takes half a day of hard labor to clean them.

I heard that the factory covers the tiles with some chemicals and it is possible to apply a special sealant which can provide the same protections. However, Lowes has so many different sealants and there are some options on the web and amazon. Can someone advice on the proper and proven brands of sealants to clean the tile for preparation and to seal them?

I think it's sealers you're looking for Vasily. Sealants are generally the products in a caulking tube that you'd use in movement accommodation joints in your tile installation.

To determine whether a penetrating sealer would do any good in your application, our folks would need to know more specifically just what tiles you have. Are they a glazed or an unglazed tile, for example? A link to the actual tile online would be very helpful if you can find one. Or perhaps you still have some packaging with the extra tiles in the attic?

The trip to garage did not bring anything, but I remember that it was the cheapest floor tile which I bought at Home Depot 15 years ago at $.99 per tile. It was excellent time for several years before it started to collect dirt. It is not shiny and we were trying to get tiles which will not be slippery on the wet floor in a kitchen. All I can do is to attach a picture of the floor with dirty tiles.

Any texture to them, or are they just smooth? I know you want to be able to clean it easily, but the more product you apply to facilitate cleaning, the more slippery it'll be, generally.
