30,000 isn't bad for a dial-up. I remember when I first subscribed to AOL. Nobody told me anything about bauds or memory either. I tried to load AOL on a modem that only clicked out 2,400 bauds. I kept trying for three days until my brother-in-law Dave came along and lent me an external modem. Then I could log on at around 14,000 I think. But even then I called up AOL support and complained that things just weren't moving right, even with the new modem. Guy asked me how much memory I was running.

As for the weather, terrible, they're callin for snow Wed night, hope the weatherman is wrong as usual!!

Still raining every day. More than a week, seems like, and about every other day for a week or so before that. Plenty mushrooms growing in the damn lawn again. Might as well move to Seattle.

Anyone know what the foliage colour is like in SE OK or SW AR??? I'd like to take JJ out to see,,,poor girl has never done anything but fly over it. She's changed her mind of late. We've actually spent the night out twice in 4 years!!!! I think she'd trust me if I told her it'd be worth it.

Living in the city you lose track of the frost hours and all that. Don't know if there's been enough chill hours/sunshine. How's the colour where y'all are?

Dont know about missouri sonny,but its white here.Got a couple inches today and more in the forecast.might be snowmobiling by saturday hope not though,ive got a date for pheasant hunting at a preserve and id rather not wade through a foot of snow
Besides a foot of snow might be a bit tough on the dog,he's kinda short

Thanks, I don't want no snow, just pretty autumnal foliaage. Without having to fly away somewhere. I like the rest stops.

got any current photos of where you're at? I remember it being a really nice overlook. Has the colour left you yet?

That's great, but my girl is asceered of traveling too far from home. I miss all that, when I was a practising ameateur botanist, I'd help the Dept of Ag in Texas, OK and AR predict the intensity of the colours.

Like I said, my lover is not blessed well with the travel bug. Took all she had and then more to even make a trip to Houston, but I'd sure like to show her what I've seen through my own eyes...it'd just have to be closer to home. She thinks if her body undertook some severe and sudden turn, she'd be better off in Dallas... don't axe me, we've all got our complexities.

All this being mentioned about a girl that I want to take to Italia with me. Go figure, it'll keep me busy, right???

I was immediately thinking of a lodge at Beaver's Bend State Park in SE OK, where all the rooms open to a sunrise over the lake. Then maybe a drive over through SW AR and those pristine, tho' man-made lakes, where you get a room to watch the sun-set. I know the area rather well, but.. oh well... she loves seafood, but doesn't like the smell of the water, ya get it?? No complaints, just tryin' to draw a pitcher. I'm given to that.

Oh, sorry I've been off topic of late. Those voices began to reappear and I was just having discussion. Better now, thank you.

It was not good. Started raining in the afternoon. Came in waves. By 10:PM I had to move my truck up the street to higher ground. Water was up to the rocker panels, about to enter the exhaust pipe. Got soaked.

Patti was worried once again about the house flooding, which it won't. Told her I was going to bed and for her to keep a lookout.

Rain stopped about midnight while I was dreaming of gopher wood and where to get a large enough quantity to build something 300 cubits long.

Took me 2-1/2 hours to travel 28 miles into town this morning because of the high water and our usual gridlock.

I don't usually complain about weather, but here's the kicker. Your Yankee cold front is due to arrive tomorrow and they're talking forties at night and only sixty for the high.

Mmmmmm. Ah, John? Thought I 'splained to you a while back on this same thread that I was fixin' to build the ark this go-round outa treated wood. How much of that gopher wood thing they find intact? I s'pose you're gonna wanna do the pitch it within and without with pitch thingee again too, eh? Me, I'm gonna pitch mine with NP-1.

Today was the first really sunny day we've seen for weeks. Was nice. Uncovered my lumber piles. That wretched cold front is gonna be even colder here in the hill country. Not nice.
