OMG--it has finally happened.
Central Texas has gotten a good drink of water.
Checked the rain gauge this morning after listening to the beat of rain drops on the tin roof all night---over flowed a five inch gauge. Stock tank (man made pond for you yanks) that has been dry for most of the past year now is brim full. Lake levels along the Colorado drainage should be coming up as well.
More forecasted for the rest of today. Loving it.

Two point six inches downstream in Boerne, John. And the rain has started up again.
Nice, slow, steady rains thus far, but we know the floods are always on the way after a good drought.

That's wonderful news for you Texans. Frances' cousin said they were getting 40 mph winds and downpours somewhere in Florida. Our reservoir at Clemson is down 8 feet and falling. I guess the Corps of Engineers would rather sell electricity than maintain water for the cities on the lake that depend on it for water supplies. Clemson is talking about implementing voluntary water conservation soon.

In the last year we have sporadically had about 2wks of sunny days, and maybe 3 weeks total days without rain. In the YEAR! It rained at least a minimal amount everyday in July this year.
I just finished a job where I had to pour an exposed aggregate slab. I had the formwork in place and waited 3wks for 1 day without rain.
I've had several calls to price more driveways this year. So far I havent called them back. I'm pouting.

Bout time this was dug up again. I really just want to complain, and complain loudly so you can hear me over the constant noise of the generator!
Friday the 28th- beautiful day. Got lunch with Wes after work and almost sat outside, nice.
Saturday. F Saturday. I'm close to the mountains (hills if your on the west coast). And got about 12" of snow. The trees have not lost their leaves yet, so you know where this is going. My power will be out until the earliest, wed. Lost it on Saturday.
I have one of those inefficient 1970's bi levels. Bout the time the house was built, my local power company was , ahem, "subsidizing" the installation of all thing electric. The good stuff, like heat and stoves. No heat, no hot water, no hot food makes Joey a miserable bastard.

One of the first modifications I make when I start makin' me a new hovel, Joe, is to provide for a couple removable LP bottles. In the remote places we work sometimes it's just not feasible to take the vehicle to the propane dealer to have the on-board tank filled.
Onliest time I use the on-board tank is when the portables are in transit. Alters the whole usability curve of the vehicle.
