this is Michigan dammit! Aren't we supposed to be able to cope with a little snow?
apparently you haven't kept up with the times, Dan. buncha wusses.

I went to school in a suburb of KC and we had the fewest snow days anywhere in the metro area - and thus the shortest school year. Last in and first out. Story was that if the Superintendent could get to his office school was on. never proved it, but we think he had an office in his basement.

When I lived in a suburb of Cleveland (Strongsville) back in the late '70s, anything less than 10 inches of snow meant you were going to school. Many of us had 10" sticks in our yards. If you could see it when you woke up, it was time to get dressed and have some breakfast; you were going to school.

Even though school was out here today, my street was plowed before lunch, and the school play will happen as scheduled tonight. Wussies, but not total wussies.

too bad we don't have snow days for work! sad part is, when we get a bunch of snow, i'll still be the only one here. only live 3 blocks from the store, so i can't call in and say i'm plowed in or anything.

p.s.- current temp is 19

Can't really complain compared to some of y'all but I will anyway. This a.m. it was 32. We live about 15 miles from the gulf stream, it's not supposed to get that cold yet.

And yesterday on my way to work in Nags Head it was raining. I crossed the Oregon Inlet bridge and it turned to snow. Full on snowing during my commute yesterday. Heard later some folks called it "sound effect snow" similar to "lake effect."

Yesterday 6 am it was a balmy 3 degrees above zero! Getting into the upper 30's this weekend.

I buddy of mine threw in the towel and packed up his family and moved to Houston - tired of winter & now he drives for UPS.

I get a little voice in my head every now and then saying move somewhere warmer - I should start listening

Clyde - thanks for the fire - I had to put my hands up to the computer screen to warm my hands up

Plus I live way out in the boonies far from the coast. I live semi close to where the official temp is taken. It's a bit warmer in downtown but quite nippy here. My wifes Hibiscus plant has already died back and it's only November.

Record highs in the 80's this week. 40's at night. Does it get any better?

Been so warm the dogs have been shedding like it's Spring. Finally, rain today with chance of snow tonight...which in Nuevo Mexico usually means more rain.

Despite it being close to December, I was outside today without a jacket raking up leaves . It felt so good.
