We had some lake-effect snow that even accumulated on roof tops and lawns. I consider it a blessing that will help me fully appreciate the sunny, 60 degree weather forecast for Saturday.

Yeah, a north breeze came in here yesterday and knocked our afternoon high down to 68. S'pose to be back up to near 80 by tomorrow.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Thousands of utility customers around the Northeast awoke without power Wednesday morning, a day after the season's first big snowstorm blew through the region.
The wet snow fell on trees still covered in fall leaves, and its weight, combined with gusty winds, sent limbs crashing down on power lines.
In upstate New York, more than 40,000 customers were without power Wednesday morning, most of them in the Mohawk Valley, Adirondacks and the Catskills, according to statements by utilities National Grid and New York State Electric & Gas.
The National Weather Service reported snowfall totals ranging from 6 to 8 inches in northern New York, to a foot or more along the northwestern edge of the Catskill Mountains.
A lake effect snow warning has been posted for northwestern Pennsylvania Wednesday, with accumulations of up to 12 inches possible in higher elevations.
More snow and wind was in the forecast for Vermont Wednesday as the storm works its way through the northern part of the state.

Right now here in good ole Riverhead it's a chilly, breezy 44 degrees. Yuch.

Still in the 90's here but cooling down to where we can open windows at night. Now that's when we start liking living here. Really start hearing the coyotes and seeing more wildlife. Had a bobcat on the back patio a couple days ago and we have two romantic owls that hang out on the roof peak every night.

I hear some Coyotes once and a while, not often, do hear some small wild hogs/boars in the woods.
an Owl scared the hell out of me when I first moved to Florida. I was sound asleep and heard this low voice. somebody mumbling something.
got up heard it again. got my "thief stopper" and headed out the door, thought he was by my window. all the sudden I heard it in the tree, aimed the light up and there was this HUGE owl. the tone of his "hoot" was like a low voice. ohh well.

Minor quakes hit Dallas area; no damage, injuries
IRVING, Texas – Several minor earthquakes gave some Texas residents an early Halloween scare, shaking their beds and knocking pictures off walls but causing no damage or injuries, authorities said.
A 2.5-magnitude quake at 11:25 p.m. Thursday near Grand Prairie was followed by a series of other small earthquakes in the Dallas suburb, then a 3.0-magnitude quake at 12:01 a.m. Friday in nearby Irving, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Most people in the Dallas area had no idea because the tremors were minor and centered in southwestern Irving. But those who did seemed unnerved by the rare Texas quakes that shook apartment buildings and set off car alarms.

Art, just got our utilities bill from last month. Almost 30% higher than last year due to the higher heat this Fall. Wiley is gonna have to start dealing with 75 degrees inside or get a second job.
