There was sunshine today...SUN!!!! We could walk to the mailbox and back without having to change clothes from the humidity. It's going to be sunny, NOT humid and 105 tomorrow....thank goodness.

Did I just say thank goodness for 105? YES!!!!!!!!!

Highs sitting right at 100 everyday with lots of humidity. No real rain in sight for a few more days. Hate watering the flowers and shrubs, but really hate loosing established shrubs too.

In Orlando we're supposed to hit 97 today with a heat index getting close to 110! At night it doesn't even make it to the mid 70s and it's just as humid and sticky. I'm so ready for the Florida "winter".

At least it looks like the space shuttle will have good weather for launch!

Here in Seattle today will get up to 70 not much more.
Right now at 7:52 there is a low gray overcast and a little mist in the air.

Here maybe these pictures will help you all cool down.
The mountain picture is my sister in 1954. Our father took ViewMaster pictures and I had this one digitized so it could be blown up 8x10 to give my Mom and Sister for Xmas

I think I've got you all beat. Yesterday we supposedly hit some kind of record. 102. Heat index on 115. Same today. Bobby wouldn't ride his bike yesterday and won't today either. Called it a two-wheeled heat stroke.

That's brutal. I hope your A/C was cranked up. How did they manage in the good old days without air conditioning? I remember when I was little (oh so long ago) and there was no A/C in the house (not even a fan) my father used to take us outside and hold a hose and let us run through it (this was in the middle of the night when nobody could sleep in the heat). I don't think I'll be running through any sprinklers today.
Well, stay cool.

We were poor, couldn't afford a hose, so my Dad would take us to the rich part of town and we'd wait for the lawn sprinklers go on.

They didn't have hoses or lawn sprinklers back then when you were a kid.

CORRECTION....

I wrote that our high yesterday was 102. This was incorrect. Our high today (so far) and also our current temp is 102.

YESTERDAY we hit 106.

As far as the AC goes it wasn't bad at home but the unit at the office ran all day and still didn't keep up. It stayed around 78-79 inside at work.

Too hot to write!

101 today, 100 yesterday, 99 day before. Heat index right now is 102 was 104 just a little bit ago. Our AC kicks on around 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning and runs well into the night.

I grew up without AC in Wisconsin (It gets just as hot there, just doesn't last as long) and remember some miserable days and nights. I think when you aren't used to AC you tend to tolerate it better. Going back to Wisconsin in the summer to visit family was tough when we were used to AC. Frances grew up on the SC coast and didn't have AC either. I guess we were all a lot tougher back in the good old days.

I think we should eliminate A/Cin schools. Just think of the energy and taxes we'd save. Let the little buggers sweat it out like we did. And I walked 5 miles to school, uphill both ways.
