I wish we could have siphoned off a little more rain from Barry. We only had about 0.3 inches in Clemson. At least the coastal areas got some good rain and it sounds like SE Georgia and NE Florida got a good soaker that helped to slow down the fires.
I just stumbled across a 22 May satellite photo from NOAA showing the smoke bands reaching Clemson. Also, a repeat of the campus picher from the same day showing the haze from the smoke.

Normal service has been resumed.
Pleasantly warm @ 112F when I reached the office this morning.
Can't wait for it to get hot

RAIN
Finally. Weather radio went off just after the alarm this AM. Scared the patootie out of us. Been pouring ever since. Thunder and Lightning too but I'll take it if it means rain.
Of course, I did have to open a beer for the dog. Thunderstorms freak her out. A couple of ounces of beer chill her out quite a bit. I must say however that beer even smelling beer at 5:30 AM is nasty. Guess I've officially grown up now. No more beer and cornflakes for breakfast.

Hard to believe all that smoke is still hanging around.
We are set to hit 110 by tomorrow. Time to start cooking breakfast on the sidewalk again.

Horrendous rain in Texas.....
North Of Houston in Sherman TX.
Seems 6' - 8' of flood water ran through this town and a few others with devastating effects. Prolly' looks like Katrina.
Do we have any members that-a-way?
What kinda’ local topography and what kinda’ local waterways would support this kinda’ conflagration?
Hope everyone turns out ok.

On my way back to the office late this morning and the digital thermometers read 120F and it isn't even summer yet 6'-8' flood surges would get maybe ten yards down the road before evaporating. I do hope everyone is safe in TX however.

Rain here today. Of course, I road my scoot. A friend is taking me home and I'm parking the scoot inside my office.
Drought is still bad. We are 20" below what we need. Don't want floods though. Hats off to folks in TX. We did that back in '94 and '98.
At least the drought won't ruin the peach crop. We lost over 80% of that to a late freeze this year. I did finally get some blueberries off the bushes. They are nice but late this year and not as plentiful.

Any one got any extra buckets, get them down here quick. We need help with the bailing. 18 inches of rain in three hours just west of here, and for a while this morning, my little town was completely cut off because of road flooding--major US and state highways closed, and at least on bridge washed out.

I can't tell if it's raining right now (no windows here in my office in the basement), but I think North Texas has had enough rain for quite some time. I was in San Antonio for the flood in October 1998, and I'll tell you that I don't want to go through that again.
Cheers.
