Light snow here, didn't even know it until Mikey came in with snow on his fur.

I honestly can't recall the last time we have had as much snow or for as long. The closest thing I can remember is back in 90 or 91 but I don't recall as much falling then. We still have snow on the ground today and plenty in the small foothills near me. I have driven this road daily for the last 8 years and have never seen any appreciable accumulation on the ground at that spot, I usually get a little bit of snow at my house every year a couple of times, even when there is none in town. There was actually snow on the ground mid town which is unusual, and I can say that where I live was close to 3 inches which is almost unheard of here.

Other than that I think it was back in the early 70's, I know there was a lot then, but I am not sure how much. It has been colder than usual off and on, with periods of normal warmth. We go from pipes freezing one day to shorts and t-shirt weather the next. My son and I walked a few blocks to my parents’ house in shorts and t-shirts on Sunday afternoon between the football games and by the time we were heading back to my house there was snow on the ground already, and my son wouldn't walk back. Of course he wouldn't walk to school on Monday either. The school district we are in delayed starting for 2 hours to allow people to get there, and the bus system was shut down for fear of lawsuits, there were 3 kids total in my son's class that made it in.

Jonathan,

Really great photo. We heard y'all got a lot of the white stuff down there. What a freaky winter...but we sure need the moisture!

Fantastic picture! We were in that area four years ago in early March. It's hard to imagine it with all that snow.

The sun is out, and we are headed into the sixties today for the first time in three weeks. They say another cold front is headed this way, though. Unbelievable.

Why in the world would you fish for ice? We just get it out of the freezer when we want some.

Neesie, there's just something about cutting a hole through two feet of ice, putting a line in and sitting on a 5 gallon bucket twitching the line occasionally waiting for a fish to come along . . . . Of course some of the more sporting types use tip-ups and sit in a nice heated shack, drink some type of beverage to keep warm, and wait for the flag to pop up when they have a bite. I did quite a bit of ice fishing when I lived in WI. Still get a crazy notion to do it once in a while, but quickly come to my senses.

I heard about a guy in Minnesota, Todd something or other, spent the winter trapped in one of those. Seems a blizzard hit while he was out there and the locals thought it was a snow drift or a polar bear. Either way they didn't want to disturb it.

This is Kathleen. If I had known that this thread existed I would have posted sooner. This morning it was 6 degrees with thw wind gusting to 44 mph. When I left the house at 11 it was 12 degrees with the winds gusting t0 25 mph and, Kelly don't read, the wind chill was -6 degrees. Even the dog put on long pants.

There must be another Yankee/Canadian conspiracy afoot. We had a couple nice sunny days over the weekend, but now the clouds and cold air are filtering back into the tropics. Would y'all keep your nasty weather up where it belongs?

Hi Kathleen.
