Just saw my contractor neighbor making his first attempt to get down the hill this morning. With the re-freeze last night (18*F), I'm expecting him to come trotting back in a few minutes. I saw more than one 4-wheel drive SUV balk at the icy conditions yesterday after things thawed a bit. It's gonna be ugly but I'm staying home again.

Good Morning
Here in Ballard this morning the streets are pretty much free of ice and snow and I will get out in the field today.
Just one block north of us all the streets still are covered with snow and ice. go figure?
It is getting warmer outside as I type and it will start snowing this afternoon as the temp goes up but they say that it will turn to rain so we will have very slippery streets tonite for the traffic going home. Snow and ice should all be washed away by tomorrow sometime.
Marge and Dave by the time you get up here you won't even know that we were hit by the first winter blast of the season.
Shaughnn enjoy your day at home.

Second snow day for Schools in Astoria. Still lots of Ice. 4 studs and 4wd on my truck and I'm sliding here and there. Good day to sit around the fire and type on the computer.

Well, I think all you conniving ^#&*%$s take the cake. Ship your lousy weather down this way, eh? Word is our seventies are going to morph into forties by tomorrow afternoon. Gonna be in the thirties tomorrow night. Heck, might even get a frost.
I don't think we have to worry about snow, though.
And I'm glad Marge and Dave won't have to drive on ice.

My wife of 35 years and I recently took 'Defensive Driving' to get 10% off our auto insurance for the third time. (well worth it and you get a free meal) We were told that with ABS we should slam on the brakes if we skid and that ABS will correct and protect us. Personally, I think that's 'All BS'

I left the job this afternoon about 4:30 and it was in the mid 70's. Headed north from Ft.Worth to Denton (20 miles or so), the front hit Denton about the time I got there. Temp went down to 45. I headed east heading toward home (40 miles) and got ahead of the front again, temp was 72 at home, for a little while.

Actually, ABS works. It's scary as H**L to do it and the pedal pulses like crazy, but you will stop. It may not get you out of a skid by itself, but it does allow you to still steer. I've played with it in a parking lot on ice and have actually used it once on dry pavement.

Our car has ABS and right it does take some getting use to. My wife called on the way to work on the ice saying that the brakes were making a funny sound. It is the ABS working.

M & D
You guys will want to cool your jets and not get into that evening traffic between Seattle and Everett. Make sure you check you might want to cool you jets in seattle first.
Suggestion: The Snoose Junction Singers will be preforming in the Figgy Pudding Carol Contest in Westlake center Friday night. Across the street (East) from Coldwater Creek. Snoose Junction is a name that is often used to refer to Ballard.

We've got a big time problem out there now. 31F and a 30 MPH wind driven freezing rain. And a real downpour at that. Not seen anything this bad in prolly 20 years.

Mike,
I heard that the freezing rain was coming from a friend who had their car entombed in 2" of ice 5 years ago. I wrapped Sara's car in 4 mil plastic in case we need to use it tomorrow for Hannah. I'm certain that my truck isn't going anywhere,...again.

Tell me again WHY I live here
'Cuz AZ has met its quota on MN snowbirds already.
33 at the house this morning with the coldest wind I have ever felt in AZ. I stopped cutting tile yesterday afternoon as my wet hands were absolutely freezing from the wind.
Jerry, we'll probably get something to eat in SEA before heading to Everett. We're spending the night there and then boating over to the Island in the morning. Now that's gonna be a cold ride!
