Here is a classic. This guy used mastic behind glass tile......Even if he used the correct setting material his work was...well let's just say not so special.

I was going to say post #90 was pretty bad but damn, that glass is messed up.
Did you rip that out?

I could show a few more pics of this shower if you really like the gross stuff.... The hard part for me is that I supervised this job about 6 years ago. I guess I was as green as the fungus behind that glass tile. It's jobs like this that really slap a guy into getting it right the first time.
#1 NO, I didn't install this.
#2 Yes, this shower was replaced with a Kerdi unit.
#3 Yes, I've learned much since this ugly mistake
#4 NO, this guy doesn't do any work for us anymore.

Here's an oldie but goodie--
That's the tub with that gap under it. They wanted me to put another layer of tile down, and then they'd put vinyl base on the side of the tub to hide it. THAT'LL keep people from knowing how out of whack the floor is!!

Brian,
that home owner job looks better then some so called tile setters jobs.
Bill is that tub set level? Talk about need for a mud job.

That place needed alot more than a mud job. It was an 80 year old hotel in Old Orchard Beach that had just been bought right before tourist season, and the new owners were trying to make it so's they could rent the rooms out, no matter what.
I'da been ascared of doing a mud job in that place-- afraid that I'd be in the middle of packin the dry pack and end up in the basement, and I SURE'S hell wouldn't think of staying there!!
And yes, the tub was set level.
