Not horrific, but this one had all the bad elements...
1. Baaaad layout with slivers. Oh how I loathe slivers!
2. no caulking
3. bad cuts, no jamb saw
4. no mixing of lots, love how they've got a good Tetris thing going with the bunch of tiles darker all together.
5. Toekickers
... and on and on....
This is almost like where's Waldo. See how many stupid, little mistakes you can find!

Ouch, a lot of bad stuff since I've been gone a week.
As to Chris in South Carolina not being able to find a good pro for her install, the sad thing is that it is the home state of the TCNA and CTEF. Bizarre.

TCNA and CTEF???? Who/what are they?
The sad part about this thread is that now I'm finding flaws in tile everywhere, particularly my own house!! When I see they "Tile your World" logo on my screen, I keep adding RE to the front.
I've really learned a ton and enjoyed reading these threads, especially the best/worst/works in progress. Thank you all for providing me with all this humor in the midst of this catastrophe at a time when we really can't afford it.

TCNA- Tile Council of North America. THE head industry group. http://www.tileusa.com/speechindex.htm

I'll be the first to say I have mixed thinset in old mastic buckets plenty of times, I guess I am a hack since I used the mastic to wainscot and mixed thinset in it I may be at risk of somehow transferring that mastic residue onto the floor. You guys gotta draw a line somewhere.

There is a picture of him in the 09 tcna handbook or ansi book that I have it has his name and company name in it too. He must be a decent installer if they are putting him in there.
Yep, Julio Contreras (sounds French to me) and his companys Dura Tile and Stone so I envy him for being in the handbook. It also looks like he uses a level to mix thinset.
