Can anyone guess why the grout cracked? There are also cracked tiles, but this pic shows why a membrane is needed.
I think I'll use this pic on my next "competitive bid" when the owner wonders why I'm more expensive than the other guys.

no mesh tape on CBU joints, nice 1' cut in corner and a cute 3/4" gap at ceiling.
ohh well just grout it.

$2 says they wipe that pencil mark off and forget to cut the hole. When did Home Despot stop selling tile nippers????

with thinset its a pain to leave there. tile sucked water out of thinset, more work
to scrape and re-spread.
might as well just marked, cut and installed while there.

They even marked the cut wrong. Its a single gang box in a larger style metal box, they marked the entire box instead of the actual opening for the outlet.

it COULD be 220 - but that isnt why it is a double gang box. If you only need one switch or outlet but you have a bunch of wires feeding in and out and need the space you can use a double gang box and one of those single gang 'mud rings'. Sheetrockers can plaster right up to it so it appears to just be a single gang opening.
