One of the many "tub showers" built round here. Thankfully not many folks use them as bathtubs, as ive yet to see one with any type of liner or any attempt to contain water. This one consisted of cmu under the slab footing style, I believe it was about 18" deep. Mud right over the dirt with no reinforcemnt and it was a moldy mess.

I didnt take may pics of the during. I lifted the drain, filled it with dirt, wet it, packed it, filled it, wet it pack it... let it settle put in rebar, 4" slab then, floating reinforced mud with divot and aqua defense. Got to say, it always feels like overkill when these dry pack over dirt with no liner setups are lasting half a century but i can charge for overkill and thankfully the world is afraid of mold.

And nice work every one. Brian, not sure how you bang them plank jobs out so quickly. I can throw down lots of glue down hardwood in a day. I can blow out lots of floor tile in a day. For some reason tile that looks like wood takes me forever and sucks my will to live.

Jon, Hank and Brian, looking good!
I've been playing with some big tile the last few weeks. Dal gave me some customs mega-lite to use on this and it worked great. I also broke out the tls gun and straps and was real happy with the results.

Really nice Rod! you install the pan liner for peace of mind?
Edit: just noticed your target stonemattic! Thing is a monster!

Jon awesome job on that pan repair. Takes a lot of patience and finesse for that.

I love them and to me it's a lot easier then a regular tile floor.
once you get the hang of it and a few tricks it pretty much goes fast.

Rod,
I was always taught to have the wall tile go over the floor tile and not butt the floor into the wall. Ever have an issue with water and that joint?

Tell me about it. Still working on the master bath.

And getting the LR started. The layout is based off of the exterior lanai. That still needs some prep and Ditra.

I've been curious as to how you've been handling those outside corners since you started this project Isaac. However your doing it looks fantastic. Maybe some close-up pics? Gotta say tho, I'm glad it's you and not me dude!

Fantastic work by everyone else as well!!

I agree Isaac amazing job with those pebbles

Nice project Rod!

Got my rebuild in Hummelstown PA, grouted yesterday with some SpectraLock. When I opened up that shower floor I really didn't know just how bad the damage was going to be, I knew mold was growing under it so for many reasons it needed to be torn out. After I did the initial tearout we had the fans on it for about 4 days to dry it out good. Then I spent a long week rebuilding it. I initially thought it would take 10 days total but did it in 6.

The third photo I hope none a you every has to see doing a tearout but we know for a fact many showers are put in with no preslope and clogged weep holes, plus the drain in this one was clogged with thinset.

I am sure some contractors went in there and told them total gut but the walls felt very sound to me so I told them I would try to save the walls and not tear them out if not needed and they weren't. Just the first row to get to the original liner and tie the new kerdi in

Jon,

How did you span the joint where the old tile meets the new?
