Shower coming along. I'm using Pioggia 12x12 porcelain on the walls and bench with Botany Bay Blend river rock on the shower floor and as a listello. I'll be using Pioggia 18x12 on the bathroom floor.

Got a little demo done at the GM dealership today. Should finish it up tomorrow then grind it all down next week using the "bad boy" pictured below. Sounds like installation won't begin til Sept

On my second pic can anyone explain to me why the thinset adhered to the tile and not the floor on that bare 2 row strip? This was where the new slab was joined with the old 15 years ago. Movement joint was honored up thru the tile assy

I wonder if that huge beam of sunlight coming through the skylight had anything to do with it?? Looks like the spot.

I don't think that's it Brad. Can't see it in the pic but that strip continues down a narrow hallway to the copier room and the sunlight from the skylight doesn't hit that area. Seems to be isolated to only the row of tiles on each side of the joint from the front of the showroom all the way to the copier room

I hate to stir the pot but this is just wrong. My shower failed and I will spend thousands fixing it. I had no idea who built it for the previous owner. If I did, I sure wouldn't be calling him back after 5 years b/c he clearly didn't know what he was doing the first time. My point is that it probably won't fail immediately. I'm an amateur but I'm pretty sure that a shower with that many mistakes WILL fail eventually.

I appreciate and respect the collaboration that goes on here so it's surprising to me that a professional doesn't seem to be giving pause to the comments given on the methodology.

There is a chain of tile shops and the local branch does not carry dam corners. The store manager looked and could not find them as being available from their warehouse. This chain teaches a shower building workshop for the DIY twice a month. I have done a few pan replacements that were supplied by this vendor, none had dam corners and all showed damage were the curb and wall meet.

Rick, nothing towards you. Just sharing that the lack of dam corners is much wider than people think. I can say that this chain stretches through states as far nort as Wisconsin, south through Georgia and west to Texas.

Ron/hit, since building codes are set locally, it is very possible that he is in complete compliance with local codes. I can tell you that there is no pan inspection in my state. In fact, according to my state plumbing code, plumbers are the only ones who can install a pan. However, I do not know of a single plumber who will install shower plans.

plumbers shouldn't put pans in, they don't pay attention to detail. I looked at a new house today where the plumber put it in if I get it I think I will replace and put my own

I finished the shower today. Picking up the floor tile tomorrow for installation next week.

Just did a pan tile looked just liked that Rick. It was a special order from Lowe's out here.

Same tile Jon only in an 18x12. The homeowners have also decided to remove the white 4x4 tile from their Jacuzzi deck and splash. I'm doing the deck in the Pioggia 12x12 as used in the shower and the splash with the Botany Bay river rock and bullnose.
