Brian I have a dry profile wheel for the grinder that in my opinion doesn't work all that well. It seems to leave things pretty rough so on stone I just hit it with one pass lightly and then finish shaping with the 50 grit diamond pad. I will have to try on porcelain but almost none of the porcelain I install is through body.

Lately I have been doing all my niche shelves and shampoo shelves with rounded fronts, clients see, to like the look and it adds a little space on an otherwise small niche.

Rick, I like the mud work, got any youtube videos of you mudding big rooms like that? Largest room I have ever mudded was just over 100 feet, as there isn't much demand for it here.

Jason,

try one of these DRP profile wheels on your wet saw.
you make one pass and you are pretty close to a finished product.

you can polish the marble or leave to to match a honed look.
with through body porcelain you can just leave it flat.

If you've ever looked carefully at a well-laid hardwood floor, you'll quickly notice that no two boards line up at the ends. If it's been done right, no two boards will even be within six inches or so of lining up, and there will be no other discernible pattern either. Randomness of the seams is part of the classic look of a hardwood floor, and it also contributes to the strength of the floor's structure. Your planks will come in several lengths to ensure you never have to line up the ends...below is what I'm talking about..to prevent this i like using a measuring tape with centimeters not inches,it makes for a better breakdown of the staring lines...you can do 20 cm,40,60,80 and so on until you end up with a full plank again, and start all over..but not consecutively but small.big medium, smaller and big but the last bit should be smaller than the biggest piece which will be your new staring row.

...which is why we should go metric....had to do it on one job, and it was the easiest layout I've ever encountered since the introduction of large format tile.

....just saying.......

Yes,

It was actually 12x24s cut in half by the tile company so alot of em varied in width. Kind of annoying. Laying it was a breeze. By the window the mud was 3" thick at the high spot it was maybe 1/2" thick. I bonded it with pure.

Dan,

kinda. I chalked it for 3 tiles at a time so I couldn't do that but I had no waste at all.
