Can I see a pic of how you are holding the Makita as you cut that nice circle with a diamond blade?
|
Yeah, you hold it very carefully. Gotta use a 4" blade on the grinder allow for tighter cuts then a 4 1/2".
Amos send me those buckets when your done.

For some reason I envision its more like holding on for dear life and sliding all over the tile face.

It usually bites right into the tile, grinders work great but safety glasses are a must. My grinder has an 8 year old dewalt grinder diamond blade on it and it still cuts great.

Guess I'll find out in a bit. I'm in tool collecting mode right now. Got the wet saw, cross laser level, have a Bosch Bulldog hammer drill OTW for demo and mixing, and ordered a Makita 4.5" variable today. That should be the last of the big ticket items shouldn't it?

True enough, a man never has enough tools. I have a garage and shop full of the stuff for wood butchery, drywall and painting but nothing for tiling. So what else is a must have?
I've looked around for a tools thread but there isnt one that I can find. I figured next was the ton of nickle dime stuff like trowels, floats, 4' level, buckets, sponges, 4" diamond blade, nippers, diamond roto bit, spacers/wedges, mixing paddle, etc.
Just walking through the tile tools section at Homers theres stuff I haven't figured out what its for yet, but that's all part of the fun of buying tools.
There really should be a tools of the trade list/spreadsheet sticky.

I'll make it easy for ya Forrest. Just go to contractors direct and get at least one of each, that should hold ya for a while.
Seriously, you got JB's TYW book? I think he gives you a list.
