Hey L.T. so when you bullnose those tiles, are you painting the edges too or just polishing? I really want to start making my own bullnose on porcelain like that.

Enhancer can help the color match on some through body Porcelain..and don't laugh as it's done everyday in the slab world but a process called "donification" uses dyes like minwax to match really difficult stuff. It's put on when stone or porcelain is "open" at about 400 grit. Once it absorbs and dries polishing continues and a sealer locks in the color. It's UV stable and lasts.
I also have some very expensive penetrating epoxy and color I've been messing with that Tenax makes. Amazing stuff as if mixed with the correct carrier under the right conditions it can penetrate deep into granite..volatile as hell..but has saved our butts a few times.
It would likely work on some porcelains if treated right.

I wanted to put up some final clean pics of this job after we waited 10 days for the XT to cure in the main area. Grout turned out better than I imagined.

No, it's a cafeteria in a corporate office complex. Half of it is over a basement, the other SOG. Sadly enough, the area where there are ladders is the same tiled floor yet to be cleaned.

If you used permacolor you wouldn't have had as much haze! Seriously though why the 10 day wait on the xt? did the blotchyness go away after 10 days?

Very nice looking job though....Looks like a money maker to me.

Here is a pic of Brad actually working on that job. I spent a couple of hours with Brad last week. We shared a lot of info. It's great to have a fellow setter close by who is not afraid to share thoughts, idea and better ways to do things. Hammy

Jason, the XT claims that no water can penetrate it during its 10 day cure. Awfully tough to do on a commercial job. Actually, the haze wasn't nearly as bad as it looks, other trades had to get in after us (foot traffic dirt and drywall dust). GC was made aware of the ramifications if they damaged it and our relationship is sturdy enough that we pushed the issue to the point we needed. The section that you see cleaned was in BAAAD shape before we cleaned it, but it turned out pretty good. We used Tec's Like New to clean as instructed. Super foamy stuff. After we initially grouted and allowed the joints to tack up, I put a terry cloth on the bottom of our buffer and "dusted" which produced minimal results, but fairly effective to help with the haze. I was surprised at how well water and buffing alone took many of the sponge "streaks" off as we cleaned after the 10 day wait. I'll be making the architect/designer aware on the front end next time XT is spec'd of its tricky disposition.

I enjoyed chattin' with the Ham Man. Always good to share thoughts with Tile Thinkers in person when you can. Next time we get together he'll be gettin' his hands dirty, though.

just started this 3x3 florida mold box today...............this shower was supposed to be bigger but the builder got the wrong tub and had to sanford and son enginner something...........so they took about 8 inches out of the shower....that wood is a window sill that the tile guy used as a blocker to back fill the cavity
